See Table 23: Postdoctoral Scholar-Employee, Postdoctoral Scholar-Fellow, Postdoctoral Scholar-Paid Direct, Fiscal Year. The salary range for this position is $[60,000]-$[72,000]. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Nguyen lab at UC Davis is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with primary expertise in Analytical Chemistry. The project is focused on quantifying the chemical compounds aerosol mixtures from vaping (e-cigarette) nicotine, nicotine salts, and cannabinoids. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in chemistry, with emphasis on using chromatography (GC and HPLC) and mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) to quantify various analytes in complex mixtures. The postdoc will be responsible for directing project goals under supervision from the PI, developing or fine-tuning instrument protocols, collecting and extracting aerosol samples, data analyses, and communicating the project findings via presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, or related field
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
- Experience method development using GC and HPLC
- Experience with sample preparation (filtration, extraction, etc.)
- Experience with standard calibration procedures
- Experience with mass spectrometry analysis and interpretation
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail, evidenced by prior research.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with electronic cigarette vaping research or cannabinoid research
