ETOX senior student Claire Watson receives prestigious advising award!
Environmental Toxicology student Claire Watson serves as a peer advisor in the ETOX major. She has been selected as Peer Advisor recipient of the 2025 Eleanor and Harry Walker Academic Advising Award. This award recognizes her outstanding contributions to Academic Advising in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
The review committee was impressed by Claire's efforts to build community within the ETox major, including coordinating the “Aggies Talk Tox” First Year Aggie Connection group, and setting up field trips to the Sacramento Crime Lab and Bodega Marine Lab. A student nominator noted: “…what stood out to me the most was [Claire’s] ability to connect with each of her peers and help them navigate the challenges they face, be it grabbing coffee and discussing schedules or sharing tips and tricks on handling difficult classes.” Another nominator indicates: “Watching Clair in action, I admire how her point of view as a peer advisor is informed and inspired by her own experiences. She is a great listener and generously shares her time and thoughts to facilitate students’ individual successes to help them achieve their personal goals, learn from her experience, and dream big.”
CONGRATULATIONS CLAIRE!
